2022 Municipal Election

Municipal Elections take place every four years in accordance with the Municipal Elections Act. The next regular Municipal Election to elect a Mayor, Councillors, and School Board Trustees will be on October 24, 2022. The current term of Council ends in November of 2022. This year's election will be conducted for a term of office commencing November 14, 2022 and ending November 15, 2026.


Nominations

The first day that nominations could be filed for the 2022 Municipal Election was May 2, 2022. Nomination Day, the deadline to file a nomination, is on Friday, August 19, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. Nomination Papers are available online and at the Township Office. The Township is committed to conducting an election that accommodates, encourages participation, and inspires the confidence of all persons in the voting process. The Township's move to internet and telephone voting methods is primarily to ensure that voting is as accessible and convenient as possible for all voters. The Township will be working with Intelivote Systems Inc. to provide e-voting services for eligible voters. This includes the convenience and independence of voting from anywhere via telephone and Internet, or in-person (electronically) at the Township Office. The Voting Period will last 11 days from 8:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 13th to Monday, October 24th at 8:00 p.m.

Candidate Financial Statements

The Township of South-West Oxford is required to make all Candidate's financial statements available at no charge, for viewing by the public, on a website or in another electronic format in accordance with Section 88 (9.1) of the Municipal Elections Act, 1996. Completed financial statements are required to be filed with the Clerk no later than 2:00 p.m. on Friday, March 31, 2023 on the prescribed form. 

How Do I Vote?

All qualified electors within the Township will receive a Voter Instruction Letter in the mail prior to Voting Day. This will include a personal identification number (PIN) that will be required to cast your vote online or via telephone. Voting instructions are included in the letter that you will receive in the mail. This letter will explain how to access the voting system and how to cast your ballot.

Intelivote Systems Inc.: Common Voter Questions and Answers for eVoting is helpful resource that may be able to answer further questions or concerns. You may contact the Township of South-West Oxford's Voter Help Centre between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday to Friday, during the Voting Period. We will have two weekend availabilities at our Voter Help Centre which is located at the Township Office:

  • Saturday, October 15th, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
  • Saturday, October 22nd, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
